Among the monuments of our national past and culture, old writings and books tell us the most. Architectural and fine art monuments, museum antiquities are perhaps more spectacular, but at the same time they are silent. Old writings and books, on the other hand, speak of the interests, thoughts and problems of people of old times. This volume - as a continuation of the previous volumes that reported on works published between 1473-1600, 1601-1635 and 1636-1655 - testifies to what was considered worthy and useful to print in Hungary from 1656 to 1670, on the one hand by those who were able to financially support the publication of a book, and on the other hand by those who wanted to make a living from book printing in our country during this period. It is mostly about books, among which all branches of contemporary scholarship are represented, but occasional printed materials, sometimes only a single page long, can also be found in its material. In addition to formal bibliographic data, it also covers the content and scientific aspects of individual publications. It also reveals the places where mostly very rare copies are kept beyond our borders. It presents reduced copies of all surviving title pages in tables, and the ten carefully prepared indexes enable quick orientation in all aspects.
