Die Beethoven-Sammlung der Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin: „Diesen Kuß der ganzen Welt!“
Friederike Heinze, Martina Rebmann & Nancy Tanneberger
The Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin houses one of the world’s most important collections of Ludwig van Beethoven’s handwritten musical scores as well as important biographical sources. In 2020, on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven, the Staatsbibliothek presented in an exhibition precious holdings from its Beethoven collection. This is the catalogue published for the exhibition in collaboration with the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz. The book gives in detail the history of the collection and describes some of its more valuable and outstanding treasures, in particular precious autographs, the original recordings of the opera Fidelio and the Missa Solemnis, as well as original letters and the so-called conversation books.
