This publication examines the story of a book, and what a book, since it is the famous "Nef des fous" by Sebastian Brant, first published in Basel in 1494. For Brant, men are madmen who, embarked on their demented journey, run towards their condemnation. The Nef was illustrated by the young Dürer, which greatly contributed to its fame. Barbier analyses the structure of the work, its iconography, editions, translations and reception since its first appearance
