Scholarship for the SLAM Book Seminar: Institut de Formation

ILAB and the Syndicat National de la Librairie Ancienne et Moderne (SLAM) are pleased to offer a scholarship to an early-career bookseller to attend the Institut de Formation, a new bookselling course organised by SLAM at the prestigious École des Chartes in Paris.

SLAM has kindly offered to sponsor the tuition fee, and ILAB will contribute up to €600 towards travel and accommodation for a student from France, and up to €1000 for a student from outside France, to encourage participation from abroad.

Inspired by bookselling seminars in the US (CABS) and the UK (YABS), SLAM's one-week course is designed for booksellers and their employees to deepen their knowledge and learn from experienced booksellers.

Who can apply and how?
Applicants must be in the early stages of a full-time career in bookselling. They must submit a letter of motivation (no more than two pages long) explaining how they would benefit from attending the seminar.

Key dates:
Applications must be received by the ILAB Secretariat by 9 June 2025 at the latest.
The successful candidate will be chosen by the ILAB Committee and informed after Friday, 13 June.

The seminar will take place from 30 June to 4 July 2025.

Bourse: L'Institut de Formation du SLAM

La LILA et le Syndicat National de la Librairie Ancienne et Moderne (SLAM) ont le plaisir d'offrir une bourse à un libraire en début de carrière pour suivre l'Institut de Formation, un nouveau cours sur la librairie organisé par le SLAM à la prestigieuse École des Chartes à Paris.
Le SLAM a aimablement proposé de prendre en charge les frais de scolarité, et la LILA contribuera à hauteur de 600 € pour les frais de voyage et d'hébergement d'un étudiant français, et de 1 000 € pour un étudiant étranger, afin d'encourager la participation internationale.
Inspiré des séminaires sur la librairie organisés aux États-Unis (CABS) et au Royaume-Uni (YABS), le cours d'une semaine de la SLAM est destiné aux libraires et à leurs employés qui souhaitent approfondir leurs connaissances et apprendre auprès de libraires expérimentés.

Qui peut postuler et comment ?
Les candidats doivent être en début de carrière à temps plein dans le domaine de la librairie. Ils doivent envoyer une lettre de motivation (de deux pages maximum) expliquant en quoi la participation au séminaire leur serait bénéfique.

Dates importantes :
Les candidatures doivent être reçues par le secrétariat de la LILA au plus tard le 9 juin 2025.
Le candidat retenu sera choisi par le comité de la LILA et informé après le vendredi 13 juin.
Le séminaire aura lieu du 30 juin au 4 juillet 2025.
