Eccentric, madman, or genius? Salvador Dalí crossed the borders between art and life, originality and commercialism as no other artist did during the 20th century. He gave form to his vision of Surrealism as the aesthetic fusion of dream and reality in almost all media of art, but also in the way he presented himself. About seventy selected works by Dalí are confronted with works by Louise Bourgeois, Glenn Brown, Markus Schinwald and Francesco Vezzoli. Paintings, sculptures, drawings, films, and video works explore the history of art and the tradition of painting, the phenomenon of renown, and the role of art and the artist in society and popular culture.
