“InsideOUT: Contemporary Bindings of Private Press Books”showcases artistic and innovative approaches to the traditional craft of bookbinding, reminding viewers that books are not just text. They can be aesthetic objects that share information about their creators and readers."(Kate Kondayen).

Book covers are "visual invitations to read". The exhibition at Houghton Library shows some of the most brilliant and unique copies: Fifty-nine binders and nine private presses from North America, Canada and Britain have collaborated to form this exhibition to demonstrate the artistic relationship between binding and printed book - and to show the differing approaches to the same text.
