Palais Kinsky Freyung 4
Kinsky is presenting a rare collection of books and autographs. The core of the selection is from the library at Schloss Pfannberg, belonging to Count Carl-Anton Goess-Saurau and his wife Marie, née Mayr-Melnhof. This is a typical noble library, which has grown over centuries. It offers treats from the 16th to the 18th century that give an insight into the knowledge at that time about nature, art and politics.
One particular treasure is Andreas Hofer’s prayer book. It is one of the few objects where evidence exists that it was the property of Tirol’s famous freedom fighter against Napoleon in 1809.
