Summary
Please view below our catalogue for the London International Antiquarian Book Fair from 28 – 30 May at Olympia.
We are exhibiting rare travel books, the highlight undoubtedly being the outstanding Stancomb-Wills presentation copy of Shackleton’s Aurora Australis. Not only is this the first book printed in Antarctica, it also includes the first etchings and lithographs created in Antarctica, and is a famed rarity. We also have the fine Coles-Davidson copy of George French Angas’ monumental plate book South Australia Illustrated, a superb Dupetit-Thouars Atlas Pittoresque, and Baldwin Spencer’s copy of Parkinson’s A journal of a voyage to the South Seas, which includes the first illustrations of Australian Aborigines and the Maori. Other works relating to Cook, La Perouse, travel in Arabia and Africa, internment camps and ethnography are also featured.
Please do drop by our stand E06 if you are in London at this time. Complimentary tickets for the Fair can be downloaded from www.olympiabookfair.com.
